Warming Center Supply Drive

October 5, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Want to help out the Warming Center but can’t make an overnight shift work with your schedule? Donate to our supply drive! On Sunday, October 5th from 10 am – 2 pm HRDC will be collecting blankets and supplies, signing up volunteers and accepting donations to support the upcoming Warming Center season. Located at 2104 Industrial Drive, the Warming Center is the only place where men, women and families seeking shelter can find a safe warm alternative to cold winter nights. Open nightly, the center relies entirely on community support to provide this critical, life saving service. The Supply Drive will serve as an open house for community members interested in viewing the facility and learning more about how the center operates. Listed below are some of the items the Warming Center could utilize.

  • Disposable Cleaning Gloves
  • Hand Sanitizer

The Warming Center will also be unveiling a remodel to the center with the installation of showers. The opportunity for showers has been added to the Warming Center through a collaborative effort with partner agencies, local churches and concerned individuals. Determined as one of the greatest needs for homeless in our community this partnership will allow individuals access to showers in the daytime when the Warming Center is closed.

Last season, the Warming Center provided safe, warm shelter to more than 170 different people, varying in age from toddlers to senior citizens. Our fourth Warming Center season saw an increase in the numbers of homeless families. The majority of Warming Center guests are men and women who have lived and worked in the Gallatin Valley and are experiencing a period of hardship. Warming Center staff work closely with guests to help them secure sustainable long term housing.
