Affordable Homeownership Waitlist

For priority notification about affordable homeownership opportunities in Bozeman, please join the City of Bozeman Affordable Homeownership Waitlist. In partnership with the City of Bozeman, HRDC manages a waitlist for priority to purchase affordable homeownership opportunities built both by HRDC and homes built in accordance with the City of Bozeman Affordable Housing Ordinance.

Joining the City of Bozeman affordable homeownership waitlist offers priority notification for upcoming opportunities in our community.

To become eligible for the City of Bozeman affordable homeownership waitlist an applicant must

  • Register for and complete HUD-certified homebuyer education course, valid for 3 years (Insert Link to Homebuyer Course here)
  • Meet with HUD-certified housing counselor
  • Meet or exceed $150k affordability to be determined by HUD-certified housing counselor
  • Respond to the confirmation email to maintain active status as needed

Buyers of Affordable Homes through the City of Bozeman’s Affordable Housing Program are required to meet certain requirements for the purchase of a home. Being eligible for the waitlist does not automatically make an individual eligible for all or any homes sold through the affordable housing program. Once active on the waitlist applicants will be notified of upcoming opportunities through email notification.

This program supports the City of Bozeman’s Affordable Housing Ordinance by maintaining a list of qualified buyers for both homes produced in the private market and sold in accordance with the Affordable Housing Ordinance and HRDC’s below-market homeownership opportunities.

Ron Brey

Ron served as Bozeman’s Assistant City Manager from 1990 to 2008. After retiring, Ron joined our Board in 2011. Ron received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Montana in 1977, and his Masters in Science in Rural, Town, and Regional Planning from the University of Montana in 1987.

During his time with the City of Bozeman, Ron saw the important role that HRDC has played in our community. Ron has seen that HRDC provides necessary social services to assure that all Bozeman residents could obtain housing, food, training, employment and the other necessities of life. He also came to understand that HRDC was always able to respond immediately as new community needs arose. Ron believes that the dedication, hard work, and compassion of HRDC’s staff make it a real honor to serve on the Board.

Ron also serves on the Trails, Open Space and Parks Committee for the City of Bozeman, and as a volunteer with the Red Cross. One of Ron’s favorite activities is walking his beloved dog every day, enjoying many of Bozeman’s trails and parks, like Burke Park, Bozeman Creek, and the Hyalite and Mount Ellis areas. Ron and his wife Claire enjoy spending their days with family, friends, and time outdoors.
