HRDC is hosting its annual spring food drive, Spring for Food, next Saturday, April 6, to replenish its Gallatin Valley Food Bank shelves.
HRDC’s food and nutrition outreach coordinator, Rachel Salang, says following a busy holiday donation period, donations tend to drop off in the spring, especially in the month of April. And as the food bank continues to experience increased community need, donations are crucial in order for inventory to keep up with demand.
“Food insecurity is a thing in our community,” said Salang. “It’s something that we are working to address every day. We’ve had some record numbers recently for visits to the food bank.”
